We supply a range of static and portable compactors.

STATIC COMPACTORS

By far still the most popular type of waste compactor for cardboard, polythene and general waste. Your appointed waste contractor will connect either a 14 cubic yard or 35-40 cubic yard container to the compactor dependant upon the space available. Static compactors perform best when dealing with largely dry waste. – For large quantities of food / wet waste a portable compactor is usually a better option.

HAND LOADING
Loading by hand is normally done into an enclosed hopper with dual interlocked doors, but an open hopper with a full length ‘trip bar’ may be permissible in certain situations.

FORK LIFT LOADING
Usually into an open hopper it is important that the edges of the hopper are properly reinforced. A site survey is important to ensure the hopper dimensions are correct.

LOADING BY TIPPER CARTS
Static compactors can be adapted to take tipping mechanisms to lift not only the typical 240,660,1000 and 1100 liter wheelie bins but many other types of waste containers as well. We will even make you carts made to measure if required.

BESPOKE SOLUTIONS
Static compactors can also be adapted to be ‘built in’ to buildings to provide bespoke solutions. Please see the photographs below to see some of the installations.

PORTABLE COMPACTORS

Basically, a portable compactor is a compactor and container in one unit. Portable compactors are usually used where food, kitchen or canteen waste is a problem or where no concrete base is available for a static compactor. Since a portable is not bolted to the ground it does not require a concrete base. Any good, sound level base is usually sufficient.

Portable compactors come in two types.

SKIP LIFT PORTABLES
As the name suggests these are lifted by a skip lift type vehicle and are usually of approx. 15 to 16 cubic yard capacity. They can often be useful when space is at a premium. They are always better loaded by hand. Some companies offer this type of portable with tipping mechanisms but we have yet to see a good one!

“ROLONOF” PORTABLES
This larger type of portable compactor is lifted by a ‘rolonof’ (hook lift) vehicle. Available in capacities from 26 cubic yards up to 34 cubic yards, with the 32 cu yard model being the most popular. These are often fitted with tipping systems and liquid retentive seals.
